AN UPDATE ON OUR RENOVATIONS PROGRAM
The New Yorker Hotel is now more than half way through an extensive renovation program on our guest rooms and public space scheduled to conclude by summer’s end 2008.
The scope of the renovations has included the installation of a new heating and air conditioning system for the hotel, a fiber optic backbone for our Wi-Fi system that will allow guests access to
44 megabytes of bandwidth and flat panel HD televisions in all guest rooms.
As that work concludes, the carpet, wallpaper, furniture and fixtures are being added, and the rooms come back on-line. We expect to have all our rooms done and back in operations in September 2008. When we are finished, we will have 912 newly renovated rooms and suites.
While we work on the guests floors we are employing methods of buffering construction noises so that our guests enjoy their stay in the New Yorker during this time.
The entire front of the hotel on 8th Avenue is getting a facelift. We’re replacing signage; re-facing the stonework and changing our marquee returning that 'grand hotel' feel to the New Yorker. We are also re-modeling our Lobby. The Lobby will be even grander, recapturing the feel and the texture from when the New Yorker opened in 1930.
In the meantime, we are making some other changes for the benefit of our guests. Our restaurants have completed major renovations. The Tick Tock Diner has added more seats and updated it’s classic, NY diner menu offering a wide variety of new treats and old favorites 24/7/365. Cooper’s Tavern offers the best in regional American cuisines at lunch and dinner daily.
We have changed our video-on-demand supplier to give our guests better programming, a wider selection of pay-per-view movies and events, and some additional guest services.
We will keep you posted on our progress and shortly we will have all of the renderings and designs on our website. Please continue to check back with us on our site and thank you for your continued support.
